Sailing Whitsundays - General -
Radio Communications
|
|
| Most
bareboat companies, resorts and marinas
in the Whitsundays are now conducting
all communication on the water on VHF.
The channels are monitored by Volunteer
Marine Rescue Whitsunday and Airlie
Com-Stat. Airlie Com-Stat is a local
radio station which conducts radio operations
on behalf of a number of bareboat companies
particularly during night hours. Airlie
Com-Stat broadcasts local weather on
VHF channels 22,81 and 82 at 0803, 1203
and 1603. |

- Mobile phones will work in some locations
around the islands, but these are not to be
relied upon. If you do have sight of mainland
or Hamilton Island there is usually some reception. |
